What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semipermanent technique that enhances the appearance of eyebrows and creates a natural full looking brow. It is achieved by using a "blade" that is formed out of tiny needles. These needles can create fine hair like strokes that blend in with the natural brow.
Who Are the Ideal Candidates?
Anyone who wants a fuller brow will benefit from Microblading. It works very well for those who have little to no eyebrows or brows that are thinning.
Who is Not Suitable for the Procedure?
Anyone who has allergies to lidocaine or epinephrine should abstain from Microblading. Also, anyone who has had Botox in the last two weeks or who is pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are prone to Keloid scarring, a test patch must be done 5-7 days prior to service. Microblading cannot be done over moles, birthmarks, sunburns or unhealed scars. Doctor's approval is needed for anyone with circulation issues, cancer/chemotherapy process, diabetes or someone with thyroid conditions.
How Long Does it Take?
Plan on about three hours for the initial appointment. This will include numbing time, pigment selection, and most importantly, brow shape. Once the client is satisfied with brow shape and color, we begin the procedure. The second Microblading session (touchup session) takes place 4-6 weeks after the initial session. In this session we address any imperfections and fill in any spots that may have faded. This session should take 1.5-2 hours to complete.
What Are the Results Like?
The results are instant, however, there is a process of healing that takes about 4-6 weeks before the touch-up. Microblading can last anywhere from six months to two years. A lot will depend on after care, sun exposure, and skin type. Usually the brows will need to be refreshed every year.
Preparation before procedure
Do not wax or tint eyebrows at least three days before procedure. Do not perform electrolysis for one week before procedure. In order to avoid excess bleeding do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before procedure. Also do not take Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Aspirin, or Ibuprofen three days before procedure as they are natural blood thinners. Tylenol is recommended for pain relief.
Aftercare
After 24 hours, the eyebrow area should be cleaned twice a day with a gentle non-exfoliating soap, moving in the direction of hair growth. Then apply a thin layer of aftercare serum that will be provided. Fitness and sweating should be avoided for five days. Avoid pools and saunas for a week afterwards. Avoid rubbing brow area as it can remove pigment. This includes trying to avoid excessive contact with pillow while sleeping.
